Soup and Chips you say? A classic Yorkshire Dish

Hi there..

Today i will be going through a step by step process of how to make a quality dish of Soup and Chips.

Soup and Chips often raises an eyebrow or two, often the question of "Do the chips just go soggy?" is raised. I tend to reply no, but i can understand the confusion brought about by this classic Yorkshire dish.

Ingredients -
A classic soup.
Chunky Oven Chips.
Pepper.

Step 1 -  Place your chips in the oven for around 20-25 mins on a heat of around 200 C or Gas mark 6.

wait around 15-20 minutes before preparing soup.

Step 2 -  Get a quality tin of soup. I tend to find that Heinz soups are the best, but the choice is up to you. Another point to make is that a smooth creamy soup such as Chicken or even Tomato is probably a better choice as to not clash with the chunky chips however once again the choice is entirely up to you. Place the soup into a pan and cook on Hob until piping hot. Please note : Do not microwave the soup. Microwaving soups tends to impair the flavour and leaves a horrible sticky residue around the bowl.....Nice

Step 3 - Place the Chips into a bowl.

Step 4 - Pour the soup over the chips.

Step 5 - Add Pepper. I tend to find black pepper is better than white pepper.

Step 6 - Enjoy!

The choice of soup, chips, pepper etc is entirely your choice. I find that chunky chips tend to take a lot longer to go soggy than fries or thin cut chips. This also allows for enjoyment of the meal. Nobody wants to guzzle up a bowl of piping hot soup just to avoid soggy chips, you need to savour the flavour of this dish. I firmly believe once you have tried it, you will be back for more.
